Jerry Risner, Executive Chef - received the prestigious Certified Executive Chef® Award

[Canton, OH]  May 28, 2013—Jerry R. Risner, Executive Chef at Gervasi Vineyard, recently received the prestigious Certified Executive Chef® Award. This recognition is not only a benchmark for personal and professional achievement but it has also become recognized as a standard of excellence in the food service industry. Presented by the American Culinary Federation, Inc. (ACF), this certification demonstrates skill, knowledge and professionalism to the culinary industry.

Chef Risner joined Gervasi Vineyard & Italian Bistro in November of 2009 and presently oversees all food productions on the 55-acre estate. Currently he manages four kitchens on property; a fifth will be added this fall when The Crush House Café opens. Risner loves cooking and the excitement and camaraderie of the kitchen. His passion for cooking began when he was young, watching his grandmother as she prepared memorable homemade meals for family and friends.

“I am honored to receive the Certified Executive Chef® Award for the ACF Northeast Region,” said Risner. Receiving this award reinforces his commitment to share his knowledge with his team of 30 dynamic cooks and to encourage their individual growth and professional achievement.

The certification journey was rigorous and tested his culinary skill and knowledge; fortunate for Risner, he is both achievement-oriented and fully dedicated to advancing his expertise. This perseverance was rewarded in 2011 when he received the American Culinary Federation Akron/Canton Chapter Restaurant Chef of the Year award.

The American Culinary Federation, established in 1929, is the culinary leader in offering educational resources and operates the most comprehensive certification program for chefs in the United States. The ACF, known as “The Authority on Cooking in America”, with more than 20,000 members spanning 200 chapters nationwide, is an organization based on promoting the professional image of American chefs worldwide through education of culinarians at all levels.
